SPRING SERIES WRAPS UP WITH DRAMATIC BRIDGESTONE SPRING SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP!

A hotly contested Junior Tour Spring Series, that featured a new record of completed rounds (2933), made for some high drama at the Bridgestone Spring Series Championship. 170 players began the May 29th Championship all having earned their spot by finishing Top 3 in a Spring Series event. With Exemptions into the Toyota Tour Cup Series for the remainder of 2010 and a seat at the Banquet of Champions on the line, blustery conditions on a great course would prove to separate the best of the best.

The day got off to a great start with Kevin Allen of San Clemente firing a 75 (+3) the low round of the event for the Boys and the 16-18 Boys Title and the Overall Boys medalist honors. In the Boys 14-15, the Boys Player of the Month for May, KK Limbhasut of Loma Linda fell to Brock Drogosch of Westlake Village in a Sudden Death Playoff for the title with matching 76’s (+4). As is becoming more prevalent in the Junior Tour, the youth movement stole the show. Greg Gonzalez of Riverside carded five birdies en route to a tournament low 73 (+1) and a one stroke victory for this years title in the Boys 12-13.

The afternoon wave was no less exciting! Wanasa Zhou, a foreign player currently residing in Beaumont, posted a 76 (+4) in the Girls 15-18 Division to grab a two stroke margin of victory… but not the Overall Girls Medalist honors. Those would go to Chaehee Oh of Gardena who eagled the par five 9th hole, her last of the day, to post a 1-over par 73 to win the Girls 12-14 Age Division by three strokes. The 9-11 Age Divisions were equally as exciting as Charles Reiter of Palm Desert got beaten on the first playoff hole by Tyler Carlson of Porter Ranch after tying with 1-over par 37’s on the front nine! The Girls Division also saw a one stroke margin of victory as Elisa Pierre of Santa Clarita won with a 5-over par 41.

The SCPGA Junior Tour sends special thanks to all of our SCPGA Rules Committeemen who helped with this marathon of an event, to Gary Gentile, PGA, General Manager at the East Valley Golf Club and a very special thanks to Bridgestone Golf for their tremendous support of the Series Championships and their support of the SCPGA Junior Tour in general. Thank you all!
